Week 79

Hola Everyone!

Wow! What a week it's been. I'm sorry I don't have much time, so I will have to make this email short!! I did get to talk to my parents today, so that is DEFINITELY worth the short email!

We got here to our new area, and yes, I did puke again on the bus, haha. It's a super windyyyyyyyyyyy road! Anyways, when we got here, the last missionaries didn't leave us with a whole lot, so me and my companion looked through all of the old registros (records) and we found a lot of old investigators. So we worked super hard to contact them this week and we say many, many miracles. We found an old investigator, even though he's young, haha. He's 14 years old and we put a baptismal date with him!! If everything works out he will be baptized this Saturday. So we sure are praying for him!!!!

I want to share something with you that me and my companion do EVERY single day before we leave the house. We stand up and look each other straight in the face and we share our testimonies with each other! Goodness, it's such a blessing to be able to testify EVERY single day that this is the church of JESUS CHRIST, that He loves us, and that He guides HIS church. And that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, and that he restored the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints here on the earth for the last time. The Book of Mormon is true and Russel M. Nelson is the prophet of God today!! I love you all so much. Have an amazing week!!!!!!!!!!

Week 78

Hey everyone!

Wow! What a crazy week this has been! Basically when we went and visited the members here this week, we told them that my companion was going to be changed (transferred), but hey, Heavenly Father had a different plan for us that we weren’t expecting at all!!

So this week and for about the last month and a half, I’ve had a horrible cough and this week I got a super bad ear and throat infection - I still have it, but it’s all good, ha! Anyways, we were resting in the house on Saturday and we got a call from President Conde and he told me, “Elder Blake. You have a change of assignment. You are going to Juchitan in the Istmo here in Oaxaca and you are going to be Zone Leader!!!!” Goodness, I was so dang excited hearing that, but we definitely weren’t expecting it! I really wanted to stay here another change, but this is what God wants for us so we have to accept it!!

Anyways to finish up, we had the opportunity today to say goodbye to a lot of families and it absolutely touched my heart as I could see maybe just a little impact I was able to have on their lives here in this area serving the Lord!! But I can tell you all one thing - and that is that they have had a lot more impact on my life than I have had on theirs!! I feel that way so much with this mission. I have received SOOOOOOOO much more than I have given and these are the blessings that the Lord has prepared for us as we are willing to serve him!!

I’m sorry I won’t be able to write you this week, but I sure do love you all soooooo dang much!!

P.S. I got three shots in my butt today. I can barely sit down  and tomorrow I will be sitting all day long on the bus. If you can, please send extra prayers my way. Hahaha. I sure do love you all so much!!

Week 77

Hey everyone!

It's been an awesome week that is for sure. We have been able to see so many little miracles in our lives and the lives of others here in the mission field!! I was also able to do a few baptismal interviews and see the changes that these amazing people were able to make in their lives and it sure did touch my life that is for sure!!

I just want to share something with you guys that I have seen here and that I think is so necessary that we learn!! What is a testimony? A testimony is a spiritual witness given by the Holy Ghost. The foundation of a testimony is the knowledge that Heavenly Father lives and loves His children; that Jesus Christ lives, that He is the Son of God, and that He carried out the infinite Atonement; that Joseph Smith is the prophet of God who was called to restore the Gospel; that The Church of Jesus Christ of Letter-day Saints is the Savior's true Church on the earth; and that the Church is led by a living prophet today. With this foundation, a testimony grows to include all principles of the gospel.

This is what the Topical Guide says is a testimony!! And who should we base our testimony on?? Jesus Christ!! Not our families, or our wife or husband, or the events that happened last week - but on Jesus Christ!! This is something that I have learned here in the mission and it has helped me become better and to really have a TRUE testimony of the restored gospel!!

I love you all so dang much and I hope that WE can all strive to be better! Have an amazing week!!

Week 76

Well, this week went by pretty dang fast. It’s pretty crazy to think that I’m down to about 6 months left here in the mission! I can’t quite believe it. Time goes by so fast and so slow sometimes. Haha! Not much has happened this week, but I did have a really cool experience with Sister Rosa that got baptized!

So anyways, on Tuesday we had division or splits and I went to the area where Sister Rosa lives. I got to talk to her at the end of the day.we had a great conversation and she seemed so dang happy to see me and I was so dang happy to see her! So it was about 9:20 as we were leaving her house and she told me that I had no idea how much she really has missed me. She said that when she heard the news that my companion and I weren’t going to be in her area, she started to cry. And she told her family that she is never going to treat another missionary like she treated me!!

Good heck it sure did hit me so hard. I can’t even express the love that I have for the people of Oaxaca. Goodness, they sure are such amazing people and it was so amazing to see the love that they have for me! I’m so grateful to be a missionary in this time. I know WITHOUT a doubt that I’m where I need to be - even though it’s super, super tough being here sometimes! I KNOW that this church is true! Keep fighting the good fight and hold fast to the iron rod!! I love you all so much!!
